Workday
Six years on Workday Student, from QA on admissions features to a PM rotation in Career Hub to owning quality strategy for the REST API platform that modernized integrations for 3M+ student records. Across all three the work was the same, understanding the customer workflow well enough to shape the spec and then making sure what shipped actually worked for the institutions using it.
Workday is an enterprise SaaS provider of finance, HR, and student information systems for large organizations, including the Workday Student suite for higher education.
The PM Rotation ('21–'23) ran concurrently with the QA roles by design.
Recognition
REST API SME
The team's REST API subject matter expert, and the person other groups pulled in when their work hit the API surface. I owned the evaluation and admissions decision feature area, set scope, versioning, and contract standards with PM and Engineering as the platform moved off its legacy integration framework, and wrote the standards and training that 60+ engineers worked from.
Advocate roles
Three named advocacy roles across my tenure. As Security Advocate I ran the security testing training for the Student organization and onboarded new engineers into the framework. As Web Service Advocate I set expectations for new API surface across the product and fielded the questions teams brought against it. As Persisted Data Advocate I ran three projects designing seeded datasets that emulated real institutional environments, and presented the case for that investment to directors and senior leadership.
Mentorship
Four mentoring relationships across my tenure, including an eight-month internship, a co-op engagement where I shaped the mentee's workload around their growth areas and tracked progress with our manager, onboarding an incoming engineer into team process, and training new hires through the Security Advocate role.
Peer and manager feedback
19 recognitions logged in Workday's internal feedback system across six years, spanning innovation, teamwork, security, and learning categories.
